The Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (National Focal Point; NFP) was established on the basis of a Czech Republic Government Decree from June 19, 2002, as a part of the Secretariat of the National Drug Commission (now: Government Council for Drug Policy Coordination ). Through the National Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction, the Czech Republic is involved in the European network of monitoring centers - the Reitox network.

The Czech National Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (National Focal Point) cooperates with the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA). The EMCDDA provides methodological guidance and coordination of activities of European focal points.

The National Focal Point is responsible for collection, analysis and interpretation of data and information about individual aspects of use of licit and illicit drugs; especially in the system of the so-called key indicators (drug use among the general population, problem drug use, drug-related infectious diseases, drug-related deaths and mortality of drug users, demand for drug treatment) and other data sets. The National Focal Point also participates in evaluation of interventions of preventive and treatment programs in the field of drug use.
