The Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (National Focal Point; NFP) was established on the basis of a Czech Republic Government Decree from June 19, 2002, as a part of the Secretariat of the National Drug Commission (now: Government Council for Drug Policy Coordination ). Through the National Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction, the Czech Republic is involved in the European network of monitoring centers - the Reitox network.

The Czech National Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (National Focal Point; NFP) is a partner of the REITOX network that was established and supported by national governments of European Union countries with the objective to monitor the situation in the field of use of psychotropic substances, prepare documentation for evidence-based decision-making at the national and the European level, and evaluate efficiency of such actions. It was established in the 2002 within the structure of the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic – Secretariat of the Council of the Government for Drug Policy Coordination .
